Hello, adventurers! It’s been an exciting and productive few weeks working on the MMO project. Here’s what we’ve accomplished recently and a peek at what’s coming next:
Recent Progress:
1. Character Creation – Talent Rank Selection:
- The talent rank selection system is taking shape! While the screen isn’t fully functional yet, it’s close to being ready. Talents now dynamically populate during character creation, and implementing full functionality shouldn’t take more than a day once I focus on it. (Screenshot attached!)
2. Focus Shift to Talent Selection:
- I prioritized getting the talent selection system working instead of treating it as a bonus feature. Why? It’s essential for transferring created characters into the game world properly—no more “auto-bestowed” melee weapons! This ensures a more immersive and complete character creation experience.
3. Planning for Melee Weapons and Gameplay:
- After talent selection, I’ll tackle fixing the character selection screen, which broke during development (oops!). Then, I’ll move on to implementing the Melee Weapons talent for players. Once that’s complete, I’ll give the same talent to AI characters for some real gameplay—finally!
Looking Ahead:
Here’s the tentative roadmap for the coming months:
1️⃣ December:
- Finalize talent selection and fix character selection.
- Implement Melee Weapons for players.
2️⃣ January:
- Add Melee Weapons to AI characters and showcase player-vs-AI combat!
- Begin refining the unique combat system for real-time gameplay.
3️⃣ February:
- Finish all first-circle Warrior discipline talents for a complete warrior experience.
- Decide whether to expand into all Warrior first-circle talent options or begin world-building.
This progress marks an exciting step closer to the first playable version. Seeing the deep mechanics come to life in real-time is incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to share more updates soon.
